Loreto Gonzalez Obituary

Loreto "Baby Lou" Gonzalez, age 75, of Indiana Harbor, East Chicago, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene R. Gonzalez; loving father of  Kurt Gonzalez, Louie (Melissa) Gonzalez and Irene S. Gonzalez; adoring  Papa  of seven grandchildren: Yesenia, Yazmien, Louie, Jr. Gonzalez, Christine (Ismael) Rodriguez, Kurt, Michael (Catalina) and Kayla Gonzalez; dearest great grandfather of twelve; Sisters-In-Law: Susan (Armando) Salinas and Cecelia Vazquez; three godsons and one goddaughter and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceded in passing by his parents: Loreto and Carlota Gonzalez; sisters: Norma Lopez, Mary Vasquez, Olga Cornejo, Lilly Barrera,  Alice Rodriguez and brother Herbert Gonzalez.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm with Funeral Service at 5:30 pm with Father Theodore J. Mens, officiating, at Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, Indiana, 46312. Private Cremation Services will follow. 

"Baby Lou", was a lifelong resident of East Chicago, Indiana and member of St Mary Church, Griffith, Indiana. He was  a retired employee of Inland/Mittal Steel Company with 47 years of service and Member of the USWA Local 1010. He was also a former employee of the East Chicago Water Department and longtime Board Member of the East Chicago Sanitation Board. "Baby Lou" was always active in East Chicago and helped many of his friends and neighbors while  serving as  longtime democratic precinct committeeman in the 4th district. He was also a longtime Coach and President of the Indiana Harbor Little League. He always had a smile on his face and loved helping people throughout the community. When through one man a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth come into the world-then that man's life has had meaning. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
