Genoveva Venegas

Genoveva Venegas, age 87,  passed away peacefully at her home in East Chicago, Indiana on December 18, 2020. Cherished wife of the late Eduardo Venegas;  loving mother of: Juana M. Venegas, Leonor Cheek and Cecilia (Paul) Nuncio; dearest son-in-law,  David Cheek, Sr.; beloved adopted daughter, Veronica Acevedo; loving and proud grandmother of: Pilar Garcia, David Cheek, Jr., Elena Cheek and Lilly Nuncio; dear  sister of: Socorro (Enrique)  Torres, Martha (Chuck) Doerr, Cecilia (Oscar) Valdez, Roberto (Norma) Rodriguez, Antonia (Harrison) Bullock, Juan (Maria) Rodriguez, brother-in-law Justino (Juanita)  Sanchez and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceded in passing by her loving husband Eduardo Venegas (2019)  and cherished grandchildren, Miguel and Carlos Cheek and her parents Cristobal and Hilaria Rodriguez.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Dec. 28 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, IN with Mass of Christian Burial  on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, Indiana with Father Carlos Sosa, A.I.C., officiating, Private cremation services will follow. Friends may also visit with the family at the church from  9:30 a.m. until  time of Mass.

Genoveva was a lifelong resident of East Chicago and a longtime devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Her home and heart were always open to all of her family and friends, she loved to cook and enjoyed dancing. She will be remembered for her strength and charisma. Her love and kindness will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew her.
