Claudio A. Gonzalez, Sr., age 87, longtime resident of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at his home. He is survived by his three loving children: Claudio A. Gonzalez, Jr., Yolanda Gonzalez and Ruth G. (Norm) Jacobs; five loving grandchildren: Adrian, Adam, Crystal (Mike), Samantha and Emma; three precious great grandchildren: Issak, Issabella and Gustavo; brothers: Jose and Octavio and sister, Flora Dora; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceded in passing by his loving wife, Maria Guadalupe; granddaughter, Christina; brother, John and sisters: Berta Alicia and Olivia.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 12:00 pm at St Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Boulevard, East Chicago, Indiana, with Father Pat Gaza officiating. Burial services will follow at St John-St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family at St Patrick Church from 10:30 am until time of mass at 12 noon.

Mr. Gonzalez was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel Company with over 30 years of service. Proud member of USW Local 1010 and Inland Steel 25 year club. Claudio was family oriented and loved taking his wife and children on trips to Mexico to visit family. He was an avid gardener; planting jalapenos, cucumbers, cilantro and tomatoes each and every summer; he also tended to his peach trees which always needed special care. And each spring, he enjoyed planting flowers throughout the front and back yards of the family's home. His integrity, kindness and love of family will always live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
