John A. (" Papa Woo ") Wojcik, Jr.

John A. Wojcik, Jr., "Papa Woo", age 81 of Griffith, Indiana, formerly of East Chicago, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Franciscan Health-St Anthony Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Sue; Dearest father of John Wojcik and Sandra (Kyle) Wagers; Proud grandfather of: Audrey, Jim and Wesley; Fond brother of: Irene (late Gus) Nadolski, Walter (Barbara) Wojcik and Edward (Jackie) Wojcik; Cherished Uncle of many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many loving relatives and friends. Preceded in passing by his parents, John, Sr. and Sophie Wojcik and Daughters, Jill and Margie Wojcik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St Mary Church, 525 N. Broad Street, Griffith, Indiana with Father Keith M. Virus, officiating. At Rest, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM, Prayer Service at 4:30 PM all at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, Indiana.  Friends and family may also visit with John's family on Monday morning at St Mary Church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.

John was a longtime resident of East Chicago up until a few years ago when he moved to Griffith, Indiana. He was a graduate of E. C. Washington H. S. class of 1956.  John retired from the   City of East Chicago with 42 years of faithful  service. He was a proud member of the former White Eagle Club in  Indiana Harbor and   was also a  member of the former St John Cantius Church, St Stanislaus Church and now a member of St Mary Church. One of John's joys in life  was collecting stamps, but his true joy was being  with his family and friends. John was always the life of the party and could have a nice time with whomever he was with. He was always a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother, whom will all  miss him dearly.
