John Herrera, Jr.

John Herrera, Jr., age 73, of East Chicago, Indiana passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence. He is survived by his 3 children: Lisa (Frank Gonzales) Herrera, Christina Herrera and John (Julia) Herrera; two brothers: Oscar Garcia & Gilbert Herrera; six sisters: Irene (late Roy) Ochoa, Martha Pagan, Gloria (late Elpidio), Perez, Dora Riggins, Norma (Dan) Rodriguez and Fernanda (Rudy) Lopez; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends, also his furry canine, Precious. Preceded in passing by his parents, John, Sr. & Guadalupe Herrera, two brothers, Robert Herrera and Michael Garcia, his children's mother, Adela Perez and infant son, Baby Herrera.

John Was a lifelong resident of East Chicago and was a graduate of Washington High School. After High School, John served in the National Guard for many years. He was a former employee of Inland Steel, Indiana Harbor and U S Steel, Gary Works. John had many joys in his life, one of them was watching and supporting all of the Chicago sports teams, especially his Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. 

 A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Craig Harper officiating at the Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4:00 to  7:00 P.M. with the Service beginning at 6:00 P.M. Private Cremation Service was held prior to the Wake Service. John was well known throughout the Community, he will be dearly missed by all of his family and many friends. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oleskapastrickfh.com.
