Guadalupe Maria Gonzalez

Guadalupe M. "Lupe" Gonzalez, age 83, longtime resident of East Chicago, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at her residence. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Claudio A. Gonzalez, Sr.;  three loving children: Claudio A. Gonzalez, Jr., Yolanda Gonzalez and Ruth (Norm) Jacobs; five loving grandchildren: Adrian, Adam, Crystal (Mike), Samantha and Emma; three great grandchildren: Issak, Issabella and Gustavo; brother, Guillermo; six sisters: Chata, Mercedes, Margarita, Lola, Cuca and Maria Luisa; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, family & friends. Preceded in passing by her granddaughter, Christina Jacobs; sister, Socorro and two brothers, Manuel and Jose.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St Patrick Church, 3802 Grand Boulevard, East Chicago, Indiana, with Lupe's cousin, Presbitero J. Guadalupe Duenas, officiating. At Rest, St John-St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, Indiana. Friends may also visit with the family on Friday morning  directly at the Church between  9:30 to 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Gonzalez was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a talented and self-taught seamstress. One of her many joys in life  was cooking for her family and friends. She was by many,  considered to be the best cook in Indiana Harbor. Her love and kindness will live on in the memories of all who knew her.
