Dorothy M. Krol (nee Bloomquist), age 97 of East Chicago, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday, June 20, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and devoted her life to her family. Survived by her children: Cheryl Bernal, New Jersey, Arlene (Michael) Biedakiewicz, East Chicago, Bonnie (late Louis) Olar, Griffith, Stanley J. Krol, Jr., East Chicago, Timothy (Pamela) Krol, Hammond and Theresa (Richard) Figueroa, Portage; grandchildren: Robert, Laura, Michael, Shonda, Ricca, Kimberly, Noemi, Cristina, Jonathan, Bianca, Christopher, Brittney, Josie and Steffanie; 21 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Dave Berrie of Pahrump, Ben Berrie of Lake Village; sisters-in-law: Helen (late Edward) Kostelniak, and Dolores Lawinski both of East Chicago and many nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends. Preceded in passing by her parents and Beloved husband, Stanley "Sticker" Krol; grandson, Louis Olar, Jr., great grandson, Nathan Sosa and sister, Norma Monson.
Friends may meet with the family on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. directly at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Schererville, IN with Rev. Cory A. Wielert, officiating. (If attending the Funeral Service on Tuesday, Please arrive at Chapel Lawn after 10:45 a.m.)
Dorothy was born May 14, 1922 in Lake Village, Indiana to Charles Bloomquist & Lucy Bloomquist Barrie and graduated from Morocco High School. She was a longtime resident of East Chicago where she and her husband Stanley "Sticker" raised their family. She loved East Chicago and all of her neighbors and friends where she stayed until she passed away. Dorothy was a longtime member of the former St John Cantius Church, East Chicago, Indiana and was a longtime girl scout leader. Dorothy loved to sew, knit, crochet and work crossword puzzles. She mostly enjoyed playing Cards, Yahtzee and Board games with her grandchildren. She was the kindest "Mom" to all of her children's friends and would help anyone she could. She will be remembered for Her strength, charisma and willingness to help others. Her love and kindness will always remain in the memories of all who knew her and loved her.
